Last weekend I went to one of my favorite antique and garden places in Houston. It Joshua's in the Heights (off 19th Street). He has a huge outside garden shop which specializes in natural and native plants (in Susan's Speak: Very Hard to Kill!) Joshua has really gotten popular in the area for his Water Fountains. He has hundreds of beautiful pots in all shapes and sizes. Inside a big warehouse are antiques. I found my first purchase in a "Texas" themed booth. This little red carrier, complete with a Texas license plate, will be used to tote my small garden tools around the yard this spring. This cute little table didn't come home with me but I sure did like it!
More Texas "STUFF" from my favorite booth of the day.
They even had some pretty little aprons. If I HAD a Valentine to cook for this year, I would have bought this and pretended to be a funky June Cleaver!

The booth wouldn't be complete without a whole truckload of cowboy boots. I've seen all sorts of crafts created with these.....birdhouses, table legs, part of a vignette...I guess the "Texas Sky is the limit", right? If those Red and Black boots on the top had been MY SIZE I would have scooped them up for an upcoming rodeo.
My creative friend, Susan A, my shopping partner is part owner of an architectural firm. The name of the business is CRE8.....isn't that CUTE...a play on words of CREATIVE....and that they are. They do lots of fun and funky elementary schools and the kids just love their designs. Susan A. picked through this box of blocks and found all the right letters. (HOW could you pass them up at just $1 a block?!?!)
Sounds like my kinda place! I love the little tote, especially with the license plate!
ReplyDeleteOh goody, another place to check out when we're in Houston next. Thanks for the tip, this looks like a really neat place. And I LOVE that apron, how fun. Kathy

That looks like a fun place to browse! But then, Houston has a lot of neat places to browse around!! That is the one thing I miss about not living there anymore. When I visit my parents all my mom and I do are run around to all the neat places and SHOP!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Texas shops sport more "Texas Stuff" than any place I have ever been... that's why we love our state soooooo much!
ReplyDeleteSusan.. I must confess... I used the window tint stuff from Home Depot on my french door... looks amazing doesn't it? And, you can't make a mistake because it's not permanent! I just love it! I had a friend stop by, inspected the door closely and then finally said.. "how did you do this? Did you buy the door this way or did you do it yourself." She couldn't tell it was vinyl?!
thanks for stopping by! i enjoyed your shopping trip! hugs. Dixie
I think I could get very familiar to a place like this! I love these types of shopping trips...we don't have those here!
ReplyDeleteI would love to spend a day perusing the aisles of this place. I loved that apron!
ReplyDeleteI love all of the colors! The CRE8 is great (I rhymed--I teach preschool, we get excited about these things!). I noticed on your profile that The Shack is one of your favorite books--it is one of mine too. Actually one of my very first posts on my blog was about the book. Our church is in the middle of a message series on the book. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteOh would I have fun there! I can't wait to see the garden outside, I just love fountains!
ReplyDeleteWell, little missy, I think you should have purchased that snazzy apron to wear even if you don't have a special person to cook for .......... who knows what could happen?

ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my New England blog; all of your Texas garden pictures are making me feel very unhappy with all the dirty snow that is here on the ground. Hope you have the nice, white flufft stuff on your stay cation.
