Coca-Cola that is! This is the piece that started my love of Coke. This is a metal toy truck my father (born in 1926) played with as a boy. Growing up it was my all time favorite toy to play with at my grandmother's house. There are only five of the original "coke" bottles and the other side is "empty" so I always display it with this side showing. It's probably worth a nice amount of change but I would NEVER part with it.
This cast iron truck was found an antique store but the Coca-Cola logo is a decal--so it's not the real deal but I like how it fits into my collection.
My window sill has my little, bitty Coke collectibles. I'm particularly fond of the ads portraying ladies....usually 1965 and earlier.
This piece was made out of a Coca-Cola calendar. I
modge podged the logo over a frame tin tile decoration. I THINK there was a picture of a rooster underneath. I like roosters but I glued the Coke logo over the rooster ...and voila!
Here's another view of my kitchen window. The little six pack of Cokes is a cute
Limoge type box. It has hinges and opens to reveal a tiny bottle opener inside.
These four-mat frames suited my Coca-Cola postcard collection perfectly. A coat of golden wall paint on the previously white mats made the look more custom to my kitchen. (I TOLD you I paint EVERYTHING!...LOL!)
Same for these pics....I think the continuity of the gold frames pulls all the pics together.
And just a few more postcards.....
That's about it for the kitchen decoration....check back later to see my Coca Cola yard art. All this talk about Coke is making me thirsty....I'm gonna go get me a big, icy Coke.
I love your collection - so bright and cheerful. We have an old time drive-in Dairy Queen restaurant that has Coke memorabilia displayed and it is adorable.
ReplyDeleteSusan, your Coke collection is fabulous! I love how you have it all displayed. One of my friends has her den totally decorated with Coke signs and other Coke memorabilia.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan,
ReplyDeleteI love your collection. The black frames and gold mats are beautiful. I do have to admit that I prefer to drink Dr. Pepper!
Blessings,
Lorilee
What a great collection! I love that little truck - so cool!

You've got a great collection. I love the toy truck that was your dad's, how special that you still have it. Kathy
ReplyDeleteOOO- I wanna coke-a-cola now too! Love the fizz and the sound it makes pouring over the ice! What an interesting collection!
ReplyDeleteHey sweetie!
ReplyDeleteIt was so good to see you on Thursday! Glad to hear that you are going to keep up with your "art journal"!
Now, I know what to get you for Christmas! :)
See you soon....xo...deb
Love your collection. I always wish I would have some of the stuff we had as kids. With 9 kids and very few toys, I think we kinda passed them around and "used them up". Anyway, thanks for sharing. Carol
ReplyDeleteI love your Daddy's truck! That is just soooo cute! Great collection, and you have done a great job of displaying it. laurie
ReplyDeleteAwesome Collection. I like Coke too. I like collecting coke items for my kitchen & I like drinking it too.

Your little coke collection is probably worth a great deal! :-) LOVE that first truck!
ReplyDeleteI try to stay away from coke.. it seems those that drink it, drink ONLY coke.. and all the time.. so I tried to avoid it, so my kids didn't get hooked... it has worked... they drink all kinds of beverages..-including coke if I buy it... I'm not fanatic ;-) hehe

Very cool! I had a tiny coke truck that had even tinier plastic coke bottle that I played with as a kid. I think Coke might be older than cockroaches...and may outlive them.
ReplyDeleteSusan,
ReplyDeleteGreat collection, love the truck your father passed on to you. Cindy
I love your collection Susan, you just can't get things like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteI love classic coke collectors items! As much as I drink the stuff (1, 2 liter a day) you would think my house would be furnished with it!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your collection, especially the first coke truck! My uncle worked for coke as a kid, He rode on the back of the trunk and delivered them to house. I will try and post a picture on my blog really soon. LOVE it. I know you will!
ReplyDeleteA delightful collection ... but I must share my addiction is Pepsi!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection. My uncle worked for coke many years ago and still has his uniform and other things.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the older styles
Wow, the memories are flowing back to me! I love the coke touches you have! :o) I remember drinking soda from a bottle that had a cap you needed an opener for! :o)
ReplyDeleteSincerely ~ Tricia Anne
