Go through the archway, past the fireplace in the den and is my dining room. Remember, I love all things Italian and this bright pasta picture makes me happy. The scale wasn't big enough for me so I painted a large red rectangle on the wall to make the picture seem bigger.
Here is the dining room fireplace and mantle. I used my snowman and more brightly colored trees in this room. I like the way they look with the red wall. Having dinner by the fire is a great way to enjoy a meal or sit and linger when it's cold outside and the fire is glowing. On the opposite wall I created this artwork from a poster, some modge podge, tissue paper and painter's canvas. My butler's pantry was created from of a bit of wasted space (we think it might have been the former laundry room/back porch). I faux finished the top to look like black granite.
I love your home decor'! Warm colors are my favorites. The Christmas tree and mantle look beautiful. :)

Thank you and many blessings...I really am happy to have found your blog :)
Every thing looks so pretty! I haven't started decorating yet!
ReplyDeleteI am new here! What a great blog :) ♥ Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHello Susan! The comments you left on my blog are too kind! but I appreciate them. I love the colors you used in your home, I am a fan of red & yellow too. Great idea on painting the red box around the picture frame - I just thought that WAS the frame until I read your comment... and your poster/ decoupage art looks like you bought it that way. You are very creative and like how you "rework" things. I enjoy doing that too, just hard to find the time and something to rework! :) And I was admiring that little table your puppy sleeps under - nice lines to it! Thanks for stopping by - now that I've found YOUR blog - I will be back. Maybe some of your sophisticated style will rub off on me! :) ~ Laurie
ReplyDeleteSusan thank you so much for stopping by my little blog!! I am so glad you do and look forward to getting to know you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great birthday gift to give yourself. I am sure you will never be the same after a mission trip like that. Alot of people think it is strange that we are missionaries right here in the United States. It certainly doesn't sound as exciting to alot of people but we are having a great time splashing Jesus onto others we come in contact with!
I like your pictures of your home and making that picture bigger by painting the wall is a great idea!!!

You are one clever lady. Everything looks fantastic. BTW, you are so much farther along than I am. Maybe I'll just hand out photos of last Christmas and tell everyone to pretend. Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, Your home looks lovely all decorated for the holidays, I too love the warm colours, and I love your venice painting above the mantle. We are half done which means the tree is half dressed and the outside lights are half up, it takes time, we will all need a vacation in Italy come January. :) Kathy
ReplyDeleteSusan, I LOVE your use of color...me, the art teacher here, who loves color, but the gold and the red is really stunning! AND, I loved it how you used tissue paper and mod podge! I should take stock in Mod Podge. AND, I love that you are brave with your color (not many people are brave enough to paint a red rectangle on the wall) My philosophy is....if you don't like it, cover it up and do something else! Your house looks amazing! Check out my blog today. I am tooting my own horn, but I really am proud of myself and I know I look a lot better, so wanted to share with my blog friends. Carol Choose Joy

ReplyDeleteThanks for the wonderful comments on my blog and NO, we do not have indoor stadiums. Last year, we sat in ice at the base of some Mountain in Montana and one year, beside a frozen lake in Indiana. We are very sad to be done with those wonderful days (football I mean. I really won't miss the freezing weather. Love, CArol
